Remote exams by VICTVS
If you’re opting to do your exams remotely, you’ll be able to sit your exams in the comfort of your own home or office. All you need is a desktop or laptop computer with a stable internet connection.

To sit your exam via remote invigilation, you’ll need to meet the minimum system requirements to run your exam and for your remote invigilator.

Your exam
Your exam will take place on our CBE platform on your desktop /laptop on a system called TestReach.
Desktop/laptop requirements:
- Mac 10.8+ or Windows 7+ operating system
- Important note: Surface Pro/iPads/tablets/notebooks are not compatible with the testing software so you cannot take your exam on any of those devices.
- Intel Core i3 (or equivalent) and 4GB RAM
- Continuous internet speed of a minimum of 516 kbps
- A working webcam, microphone, and speaker system
We also recommend a comfortable-size computer screen of at least 11 inches to minimise any exam fatigue.
Your remote invigilator
Your remote invigilator will watch you through your mobile device camera using a mobile app called VICTVS.
Mobile device requirements:
- iOS – iOS 13.4 and above.
- Devices – iPhone 7,7 plus, 8, 8 plus, X, XS, XS Max, XR, 11, 11 pro, 11 Max Pro, SE (2nd gen), iPad Air 2 (and above), iPad Mini 4, All iPad Pro models
- Android – 8.0 and above.
Surface Pro/iPads/Tablets/Notebooks/Thinkpads or any 2in1 device, are not compatible with the testing software and cannot be used to take your exam.

What you must do now
We'll email shortly after you’ve made your booking with full details about how remote invigilation works. Including how to download the applications you’ll need and some further guidance. Please check your email address is up to date in your MyCIPS account.
At least 5 days before your exam you should download the TestReach Candidate Application onto your laptop/desktop computer and the Victvs V3 application onto your mobile device.
When it’s downloaded log into the app, check your setup and view your exam date and time in your local time zone, any discrepancies must be reported to us prior to exam day. Your VICTVS app time will always show a start time 30 minutes earlier, this is to give you set up time with your invigilator on exam day.
IMPORTANT: All systems show in local time not UK time.
- Read all of our remote exam guidance and make sure you understand and can comply with the instructions.
- Please note toilet breaks are not permitted for OR examinations. If you are sitting a CR examination, you will be allowed one 5-minute break during your examination.
- Take the TestReach tutorial to familiarise yourself with the system, this will help you to feel calm and confident to login and get started on exam day.
- If you are unsure about any of the system requirements for CIPS remote exams email: remote.invigilation@cips.org at least 5 days before your exams.
Be prepared for your invigilator to watch you throughout your exam
- Download the VICTVS V3 App onto your compatible mobile device and set up your account. Download the App and Watch the video instructions
- Your VICTVS V3 app registration emails will be sent to your MyCIPS registered email address 2 weeks before your exam date.
- Check and confirm that your exam booking(s) in MyCIPS show in your local time not UK time and that it matches your exam booking on TestReach and in the VICTVS V3 app.

On exam day
- Firstly, you must open the VICTVS V3 application and connect with the invigilator before you open and begin your exam on TestReach. We recommend you do this 30 minutes before your exam starts. If you do not follow this instruction your exam will be null and void.
- Switch your fully charged, mobile device to airplane mode with WIFI enabled. Keep charging cables close by and an additional spare phone to use if you need technical support. You must maintain a constant connection with your CIPS exam invigilator throughout your exam.
- The invigilator will ask you to show them around the room, they will then read the Exam Script before issuing you with a PIN to access your exam.
- Complete all app system updates on your mobile device.
Top tip: Having a clear desk space will help you to concentrate on the exam ahead.
Ultimately, it’s your responsibility on exam day to make sure your invigilator can watch you throughout your exam.
- Forgotten your password? Use the ‘forgotten password’ link on the TestReach website to reset your password.
- Connection issues? TestReach can restart exams where there are connectivity issues up to three times during the exam. For connection issues during your exam, please email: support@testreach.com or phone: +442034758685
- Late to your exam? You will not be able to enter your exam if you are more than 30 minutes late and your exam will need to be re-booked for the next series. Please rebook as per standard exam booking process.
- Unable to access VICTVS V3? Use the app downloaded from your app store on your mobile device.
- VICTVS password issues? Use the forgotten password link on the VICTVS V3 app.

- When booking a remote exam, you signed up to the CIPS remote exam guidance. Please read these documents and make sure you can comply with the regulations.
- You must be always connected to your CIPS invigilator on the VICTVS app during your exam.
- Do not access your exam in the TestReach platform until your CIPS invigilator is present.
Reasonable adjustments:
- If you require reasonable adjustments you will need to apply as per the process - CIPS Reasonable Adjustments request.
- Please note, toilet breaks are not permitted for OR exams. If you are sitting a CR exam, you’ll be allowed one five-minute break during your exam.
- Ultimately on exam day, it’s your responsibility to make sure that you have checked in with your Invigilator before your exam begins and that you can be always viewed.
